Temu/Shein: What does the EU do to ensure a level playing field?
The EU is overflooding by parcels imported from very large online platforms. Last year 4,6 billion parcels entered the EU. A vast number of studies and tests show that the imported products are not complaint with the EU legislation, therefore undermining both the competitiveness for European business and the sustainability goals within the EU Green Deal.
To illustrate the problem, the session will include a presentation of HUI Research’s cost analysis on TEMU and SHEIN. Together with politicians and business representatives, Swedish Commerce will explore the necessary actions to level the playing field and address the challenges of unfair competition.
Magnus Nikkarinen
Magnus is a Senior Policy Director at Swedish Commerce, where he has been running several of the organization’s sustainability-related issues since 2018. He has extensive experience in trade policy development in the public sector, including 10 years in the Swedish Government Offices, where he i.a. was seconded as forestry and agricultural counselor at the embassy in Beijing.
